Summary
The government decree provides for the extension of the price monitoring system, within the framework of which the scope of the reporting obligation extends beyond food retail to also cover perfumery, cosmetics, and toiletry retail. The purpose of the amendment is to protect Hungarian families, to stimulate retail competition, and to reduce food inflation. Traders newly subject to the obligation shall fulfil daily data reporting from 1 June 2025, and shall be required to report the prices of the products concerned retroactively from 1 January 2025.
